Chicago & St.Louis Trip - Day 3

Third and final day of trip, first we all went to Kiran home and spend some time there. Kiran took us to temple and final place of our trip is “Gateway of Arch”. The Arch is the tallest national monument in the United States at 630 feet; it is the city's best-known landmark and a popular tourist attraction. From the North leg of arch, with help of tram cars we went up to the top of the Arch. Our Tram is filled with my mom, bharathi mom, kiran friend ranga, kumar and pritika and me. From the top we saw the St.Louis city beauty and by the time, we have finished basement museum, clock showed us 6:00 pm.

Another 8 hours driver, morning 4:15 we have reached to Little Rock.

Hoping that my mom and Bharathi mom are adjusted (?) with burgers and chalupas for lunch and dinner.

I would like to say big thanks to Diwakar family, Kiran family and Param family for making this trip as wonderful and more enjoyable.

Chicago & St.Louis Trip - Day 2

Today (05/25/2007) plan is simple not like first day. Morning went to Aurora Hindu Temple and Swami narayan temple. For lunch, we have decided to go to “Devon Street”. Whole Street is filled with Indian stores and restaurants. Had lunch there and took off to Navy-Pier. One of the cool place in Chicago. We can see beautiful city view and Lake Michigan. To add more fun for today we took Seadog Fireworks cruise ride. Boat was riding with super speed and water is started to pour inside the boat. Boat Speed made us wet .After 30 minutes drive, Boat was stopped in middle of the lake and Memorial Day fireworks started… Our view is allowed us to see navy pier firework very well. My mom, Bharthi mom, all my friends and myself are enjoyed a lot. Navy pier firework is very famous especially during Memorial Day. After spending nice day in Chicago, we have started towards St.Louis, MO & reached morning 5:30 A.M. haaaaa. Sleepy….

Chicago & St.Louis Trip - Day 1

For this Memorial Day long weekend, we have preferred to go Chicago, St.Louis and on Friday (05/23/2008) early evening, we have started from Little Rock and reached to Memphis, TN @7:00 P.M. Diwakar has already picked up 15 sheet passenger vehicle for us.

We had quick visit to Bala & Jayamuragan houses. Since Bala sister had visited him, he was not able to join with us. Jayamurugan had other plans. So only Param family, Diwakar Family, my mom and myself are found our seats and started vehicle towards Chicago, IL.

With few breaks, we have reached to Manteno, IL @4:35A.M. We woke the Hotel manager (Indian) to finish the hotel check in formalities. He told us that he waited up to 3:00 A.M for us and went to bed. We have started morning around 8:50 A.M and directly went to Chicago downtown Wacker Dr and left our car for full day parking. By Five minutes walking, we went to “HOP ON HOP OFF” Tour – Pickup place and we have collected our tickets & got into Double Decker bus. It took us to Sears tower, Millennium Park, Water tower, Navy pier, in and out of Chicago downtown, which is around 13 miles. Since next day is Memorial Day, some of the roads are blocked for parade. Tour guide was explaining about each & every sight seeing places and all are enjoyed well. I was busy with clicking pictures. We didn’t get down any of the sight seeing places from the bus. If we did, we could not cover many places and also we have to wait for another bus that will come and pick us for each 25- 30 minutes.

After the ride went to McDonalds and had our lunch & all got energized. With the few minutes walking, we have reached Millennium Park. And cool thing is “Cloud Gate”. This is inspired by liquid mercury, the sculpture is among the largest of its kind in the world, measuring 66-feet long by 33 feet high. It is 12-foot high arch provides a "gate" to the concave chamber beneath the sculpture, inviting visitors to touch its mirror-like surface and see our image reflected back from a variety of perspectives. Inside this park there is lot to see like Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Lurie Garden, Boeing Galleries, Crown Fountain etc…

By the time we done with Millennium park, Kiran has reached Chicago with his family and friends. Made quick visit to grant park and the main attraction in of this Park is the “Buckingham Fountain”.

After this park, all were gone to Chicago River Architecture Boat Tour (Wendella). It traveled through the heart of the city, the docents will provide an in-depth perspective on why Chicago's architectural heritage is known and studied around the world.

Final visit of the day is Hancock Observatory. We were allowed to go to 94th floor and Nighttime view from 94th floor was breath taking.

Today night Param friend Ramdass family has prepared delicious dinner for all of us. From his house, Went to Naperville city and stayed in Baymont Inn hotel.

கிரேக்கிய உணவு விழா

கடந்த வெள்ளிக்கிழமையில் இருந்து நேபாவேலி ட்ரைவில் உள்ள சர்ச்சில் கிரேக்கிய உணவு விழா கொண்டாடப்பட்டது. இந்த விழ வருடத்திற்க்கு ஒரு முறை இங்கே கொண்டாடப்படும். நானும், அம்மாவும்,மீனாட்சி, ரமணா, சீனி கோபிநாதன்,ஸ்டீபன் குடும்பத்தாரும் சென்றோம்.

கிழகத்திய, மேற்கத்திய நாடுகளின் உணவும், நடன கலாச்சாரமும் விழாவில் பறிமாறப்பட்டது. சிக்கன் கபாப்மும், ப்லாபல் ராப்மும் வாங்கி உண்டோம். மிடில் ஈஸ்ட், கிரேக்கிய, ரஷ்ய நாட்டு நடனங்களை கண்டுத்கழித்தோம். அங்கே எடுக்கப்பட்ட புகைப்படங்கள் இங்கே...

Flavered by a melting port of nationalities, the festival features a scrumptious medley of Greek and Middle Easter favourites.

we had good food and my mom also tasted different countries variety food. Had good time here...

Spring Recital

லிட்டில் ராக் திரும்பியாச்சி...

நேத்தைக்கு புல்லா சுத்துனதுனால இன்னைக்கி காலையில ரெஸ்ட் எடுத்தோம். பாலா வீட்டில எங்களுக்கு மட்டன் குழம்புல இருந்து எல்லா ஐட்டங்களும் ரெடியானது.

அருமையான மதிய சப்பாட்டை முடிச்சிட்டு மெம்பிஸ் டவுன்டவுன்ல இருக்கிற மட் ஐ-லேண்ட்க்கு வந்தோம். அங்கு மிஸ்ஸிச்ஸிப்பி ரிவரின் மாடல் அருமையாக எங்கு எல்லாம் செல்கிறது என அருமையா 1 கிலோ மீட்டர் தூரத்திற்க்கு அமைத்து இருந்தார்கள். 4 மணி நேரம் சுத்தி பார்த்துட்டு அங்குள்ள போட் ரைடில் அம்மாவும், நானும் சென்றோம்.

எங்களை அருமையாக கவனித்த திவாகர், பாலா, ஜெய முருகன் குடுமபத்தாருக்கு நன்றியயை சொல்லி விட்டு, மெக் டொனால்ஸில் காபி, பர்கரை சாப்பிட்டு விட்டு லிட்டில் ராக்கை நோக்கி கிளம்பினோம்.

2 மணி 15 நிமிடத்தில் வீட்டிற்க்கு வந்து சேர்ந்தோம்...

நாளை காலை 6:45க்கே ஆபிஸ்க்கு போகணும்ம்ம்ம்ம்ம்....

Happy Mother's Day...

மெம்பிஸ் பயணம்...

இந்த வார விடுமுறைக்கு 180 மையில் தொலைவில் உள்ள மெம்பிஸ்க்கு சென்று அங்கு உள்ள நண்பர்கள் திவாகர், பாலா, ஜெயமுருகன் குடும்பத்தாருடன் கோயிலுக்கு போகலாம் என்று அம்மா, நான், பரம் குடும்பத்தாரும் முடிவு செய்தோம்.

அது என்னனே தெரியலங்க... நாம ஏதாவது பிளான் பண்ணும் போது தான் எங்கிருந்தோ வேலை வரும் பாருங்க... திடீருன்னு மீட்டிங் நடக்கும், ஸ்டேட்டஸ் கேப்பாங்க... எல்லாத்தையும் முடிச்சிட்டு சாயங்காலம் 6:30 மணிக்கு கிளம்பிணோம். பரம் வண்டியில் ஏழு பேர் தான் போக முடியும் என்பதால் நான் என்னுடைய காரில் அம்மாவும் நானும் மெம்பிஸுக்கு போனோம்.

பிரண்ட்ஸ் எல்லாரும் எங்களுக்காக சூப்பர் சமையல் செஞ்சி வச்சி வெயிட் பண்ணிக்கிட்டு இருந்தாங்க... திவாகர் வீட்டுல அருமையான டின்னருக்கு அப்புறம் கொஞ்ச நேரம் காட்ஸ் ஆடிட்டு பரம் பேம்லி பாலா வீட்டிலும், என்னுடைய அம்மாவும், பாரதி அம்மவும் ஜெயமுருகன் வீட்டிலும், நானும், குமாரும் திவாகர் வீட்டில தூங்கினோம்.

காலையில எழுந்திரிச்சி கோயிலுக்கு போனோம். 3 மணி டிரைவுல மெக்டொனால்ட்ஸ் லஞ்சை முடிச்சிட்டு தரிசனத்தை முடிச்சிட்டு நாஷ்வில இருக்கிற கோயிலுக்கு போயி சாமி கும்பிட்டோம்.

அந்த ஊர்ல இருக்கிற ஒப்ரி மில்ஸ் ஏரியாவுக்கு போனோம். சாப்பிங் மால், ஐ-மேக்ஸ் தியேட்டர், பெரிய ஹோட்டல்கள் என ஏரியாவே மக்கள் கூட்டத்தால் நிரம்பி வழிஞ்சது...

நாஷ்வில இருந்து மெம்பிஸ் வர்ற வழியில மழைன்னா மழை அப்படி ஒரு மழை... லேனே சுத்தமா தெரியல... முன்னாடி போற கார்ல இருந்த லைட்டை வச்சி அதே வழியில என்னோட காரை ஓட்டிட்டு வந்து சேர்ந்தோம். அம்மா மழையை பார்த்து ரெம்ப பயந்துட்டாங்க... நல்ல வேளை எந்த ஒரு பிரச்சனை இல்லாம வந்து சேர்றதுள்ள அம்மா வேண்டாத தெய்வம் இல்ல...

ட்ரைவ் பண்ணுன டையட்ல வந்த உடனே தூங்கிட்டேன்...

எனது பார்வையிலே பிறப்பு...

நான் இதுவரை எடுத்த, ரசித்த புகைப்படங்களை பறிமாறுவதற்காக இன்று "எனது பார்வையிலே..."வை உருவாக்கினேன். இந்த ப்ளாக்கின் முதல் பதிவில் என்னுடைய குடும்ப புகைப்படத்தை பதிவுச்செய்தேன்... இனி எனது விழி ரசித்த புகைப்படங்கள் இங்கே நீங்களும் ரசிக்கலாம்.

சாமி கும்பிட்டோம்...

அப்பாவின் மறைவு நாளை முன்னிட்டு காலையில் ஏசியன் குரோசரி,குரோகர் கடைகளுக்கு சென்று சாமி கும்பிடத்தேவையான பொருட்களை வாங்கி வந்தேன். அதற்க்குள் அம்மா மதியம் சாப்பிடுவதற்க்கு தேவையான சாதம், சாம்பார், ரசம், முட்டை கோஸ் பொரியல், வெண்டைக்காய் பொரியல் ஆகியவற்றை தயாரித்து வைத்து இருந்தார். அம்மா வாங்கி வந்த பூங்க்கொத்திலிருந்து அப்பா படத்திற்காக மாலையை கட்டினார். அம்மா, நான், நண்பர்கள் சுவாமி மற்றும் சீனியுடன் சாமி கும்பிட்டோம். அப்பாவின் பிரிவால் எங்கள் இதயம் கனத்து, கண்கள் பனித்தது....
